Thank you for your interest in our Drawing and Painting classes.

During summer we only have Art Summer Camps for children and teens. We have three half- day camps every week in the mornings and in the afternoon. 

Registration for our weekly classes in the Fall will open on August 1st 2013.

Our tuition is for 4 art classes once a week. There is a registration fee for each session (Fall, Winter and Spring) of $30 ($25 for siblings)

Material is included in all our children classes. You do not need to bring anything but the kid.

Summer Camps Austin Descriptions

Art Exploration: This class introduces youngsters to a range of exciting media, including pencil, crayon, oil pastel, watercolor and air-dry clay. Students will draw, paint and sculpt, creating both 2-D and 3-D masterpieces as they learn basic art skills.

Beauteous Bugs: The fabulous critters of the bug world will inspire our exciting 2- and 3-D art work.  We will draw, paint and sculpt colorful, creative bugs, perhaps adding our own inventive elements.

Cartooning Your Own Stories: Enjoy clever cartoons? In this camp you will learn to write a strong short story comic book style and illustrate the story paying great attention to expressions, composition, and cohesiveness.

Celebrating Sea Life: The amazing creatures of the sea will inspire our 2- and 3-D art projects.  We will take some of our inspiration from the book The Rainbow Fish, and will also create at least one mural of an underwater scene.

Discovering Watercolor Techniques: Would you like to experiment with a fun and spontaneous medium? This camp will provide you instruction and experience in techniques so you may create texture effects, stunning color mixes, and brush control.

Dr. Seuss – Creatures and Cities:  Who can resist the charm of a child’s imagination? This course is inspired by the style of legendary author and illustrator Dr. Seuss.  Students will receive instruction in a variety of mediums as they produce vibrant, witty, and original works of art.

Drawing 101:   This camp is perfect for the budding artist looking to improve their drawings in every way! We will focus on honing your drawing techniques from start to finish and share the tricks and tips to have you drawing like a professional.

Drawing and Painting from Nature: Absolutely adore observing the wonders of nature? This course will be studying the outdoors while we are indoors. Student will be guided in examining and recreating a selection of subject matter while also exploring a smattering of art mediums.

Landscape Painting: Want to bring your landscapes to the next level but don’t know where to start? This camp is perfect for polish your landscape painting techniques. From color tricks, to making your shadows work for you this is the place to make nature come alive on your canvas!

Landscape Painting: Advanced Techniques: This course will provide instruction about advanced techniques for both painting and drawing landscapes, and how to make those final touches really count! Students will use acrylic paint, pencil, pen, pastel, canvas, and paper.

Life Drawing for Teens:  This camp is intended for the serious, young artist. Inspired by the well-known and respected method created by K. Nicolaides “The Natural Way to Draw,” students will learn how to draw the human figure from a live model.  Students will study both male and female figures; all models will be in bathing suits.

Making Your Drawings Look 3D: Are you tired of your drawings looking two dimensional, flat, and boring? This camp focuses on techniques such as foreshortening, shading, shadow, and more to make your drawings look amazingly 3D.

Media Sampler:  Looking to explore and sample different mediums? Did you know that you can paint with pastels and markers?  This course is designed to gain experience and confidence through the careful introduction of a variety of mediums and their uses.

Painting 101: This camp is perfect for beginners and those with experience. Students will explore a smattering of fun subject matter, techniques, mediums and color theories.

Painting Like the Masters:  Do you love painting, history, and art? This camp will combine teaching you the styles of famous painters (Impressionism like Vincent van Gogh, or Fauvism like Henri Matisse) with introducing you to some of the most famous paintings, and art styles over the decades

Painting the Masters with a Twist:  This course mixes history and humor to increase knowledge. Students will learn about major artist and movements but instead of simply duplicating the works students will be adding a surprise “twist” to the piece…perhaps Batman is spotting the bat signal in the sky of “A Starry Night,” or Picasso painted an abstract portrait of Homer Simpson.

Sculpture 101: Do you love getting your hands dirty? This camp is about learning and exploring the basics of sculpture. From sculpting monsters, to assembling found art sculptures, and paper mache. This is the perfect camp for the sculptor in training!

Study of Human Figure: This camp is intended for the serious, young artist. Based on methods used in a first year college classrooms this class is intended to get students started understanding the basics of the human figure. Focusing on gesture study using mannequins, and close studies of sections of the human figure. No Live Models

Spaceships & Aliens: Do you love space, aliens, rockets, and everything that goes with it? Then this camp will teach you how to create the worlds you see in your dreams! We will learn how to draw all the basic shapes, creatures, and environments to give these creations life.

The Jungle Animals: We will learn how to draw all the basic shapes, creatures, and environments to give these creations life while honing basic drawing & painting skills too!

 

Summer camps Austin 2013

Enroll any time if there is space in the class. You do not need to wait to start with a new session. Tuition will be pro-rated if starting class in the middle of the session.

Fall Session from September 4th - December 1st.

Winter Session from December 3th - March 2nd.

Spring Session from March 4th - May 25th.

Summer Camps 2013 from Jun 3rd to August 23rd.

Thanksgiving Nov. 21-25

Winter Break Dec. 23nd - January 5

Spring Break March 11-16

MISSED CLASS POLICY. If an student misses a class, he(she) could attend another regular class providing there is room available on that class. However, there is ABSOLUTELY NO PRORRATING NOR REFUND for missed classes. "Missed" classes cannot be used as a "class credit" for the next session.

.CANCELLATION POLICY for weekly classes: A minimum of two weeks advanced notice before the class period starts is required to receive a full refund. Cancellations made after the two week advanced notice period will be refunded less $20 cancellation fee. Cancellations made THREE days before the class starts ARE NOT eligible for a refund.

CANCELLATION POLICY for Summer Camps : If you withdraw from a class before it begins, provided you give the school 7 days notice, you will be refunded your tuition less a $30 cancellation fee. Due to instructor/school preparation costs, no refunds will be granted 6 days or less prior to the class start date.

PUNCTUALITY - Please be on time for your class. Do not "drop off" your child early or leave him(her) at the studio past their class time. We are not equipped to watch/babysit children that are not enrolled on a class.
